Feike de Jong

Feike de Jong is a philosopher, researcher, artist, cultural manager and journalist with an urban focus. He lives in Mexico City. He won the Walter Reuter German Journalism Award in 2010. In 2009 he undertook a 51-day journalistic/urban expedition around the 800 km perimeter of the Mexico City conurbation on foot. Since then he has dedicated himself to the research and dissemination of information about the shores of the megalopolis of the Valley of Mexico in collaboration with organizations such as the Rufino Tamayo Museum, UNAM, UAM Azcapotzalco, York University in Canada and Ogino Knauss in Italy. He has written for national and international media such as Forbes Mexico, the Guardian and the Atlantic. His photos have appeared in media such as Arquine and The Guardian. He exhibited as an artist at the Paraninfo of the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao and is managing a collective art project around the border of the island of Tenochtitlán. He has played saxophone and flute with the group La Redada in festivals such as Trópico in Acapulco, the Worldwide Festival in Séte, France and Braille Satellite in Vilnius. He holds a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Nijmegen in Holland, and he is a member of the Círculo de Tipógrafos.
